Tell me about your summer job & travels: You can catch me at the only two surf pools in Texas almost any day of the week. I have been surfing since I was 12 at Waco Surf and have worked there for over a year. I coach at Fireside Surf, as well. Recently, I went on a weekend trip to North Carolina for the East Coast Girls Christian Surfers “露营”. It was the best weekend with about 20 girls who all got along so great. I got to hear so many testimonies, get super close to each other, and, of course, surf. I can’t wait to go back next year and experience another CS trip!
How will these opportunities prepare you for the future: I have made many awesome connections with people and gotten way more comfortable interacting with new groups of people by watching other surfers do it in a lineup. People from so many different lifestyles are always around, and it is so cool to talk to them about some fascinating careers and learn new stuff all the time.
Favorite parts of this experience: My favorite part of all my surf trips and sessions has been the people I met, including the professionals I have been privileged to spend hours with, the coaches that have helped me get to the level I am, the friends I have traveled to see for more surf trips, and the close friends I have made with other surfers in the middle of Texas.
How God has played a part in your surfing journey: I always questioned why God would send me to the middle of Texas and give me surfing as the most significant possible passion, but little did I know there would end up being two wave pools in my backyard. I would never have guessed that I would drive an hour and a half to go to work at both and spend all day around my favorite places for a job.
